Finally a book worth getting on one of America's best genre director of the last 30 years! JOHN CARPENTER THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS is essentially and interview with the master. Through the 280 plus pages of this great book Gilles Boulenger takes us within the mind of Carpenter as to what he thinks of all his films, his background, his love for music and the fustration of working within the major Hollywood studios.

The book begins with an introduction by Tommy Lee Wallace, director of HALLOWEEN III and good friend of Carpenter. Wallace gives us the lowdown on how it was growing up with John as a teen and later as an adult. Each chapters delves into all the films John made, from DARK STAR to ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 to HALLOWEEN (of course!), ELVIS THE MOVIE, THE FOG, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLA CHINA, PRINCE OF DAKNESS, VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED and all the ones that I didn't mentioned.

There's a very good chemistry between Carpenter and Boulenger making it all more interesting for us to read. The book also features lots of very good photos, some of them in color. The layout is nice and easy to read. This is a very good book that all fans of Carpenter's work should get.
