MAXXXINE
In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.
This third instalment in the X franchise features a stellar cast of characters, amazing soundtrack and it really nailed the aesthetic of that era but a better delivery of its whodunnit would have made it so much better especially since it used the real life story of the Night Stalker.
Lionsgate Films have released the film on 4K UHD physical disc. It features a 2.39:1 Dolby Vision and HDR10 transfer using a H.265 codec. The film looks great and exactly like I remember seeing it during its theatrical run with lush neon colours and deep blacks. Its interesting to note that the film was derived from 6K and 4K sources and finished on a 4K Digital Intermediate. The English Dolby Atmos audio track sounds good but I expected it to be somewhat punchier. There's also a Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 track available along with English SDH and Spanish subtitles.
We get some bonus features available directly on the 4K disc such as The Belly of the Beast (9:39), XXX Marks the Spot (11:21), Hollywood is a Killer (8:14), Q&A with Director Ti West (25:23), Teaser Trailer, Theatrical Trailer and some trailers from A24.
The film also comes on a Blu-ray disc with the same content. There's also a digital code and a beautiful rounded corner slipcase.
